Default Drift Clinic "Event" maybe?

just to toss an idea up.... we could have a track day perhaps with an emphasis on teaching

we could have options like:
ride along in a car (teacher driver)
ride along in your car (teacher passenger)
ride along in your car (teacher driver)

i dunno how hard this would be because im sure less people would want to pay for the event (75$) to spend part fo the day riding along and not just have straight seat time, but i dunno...

could even have a track map and discuss lines/different techniques for certain points since may turns can be attacked different ways... not all but many. the decision of how to take the turn is probably 40% of the drift, the rest is execution.

just an idea -- dont hate

Thats a great idea! Maybe give a discount to those who would take time to instruct people.

I'll agree that it's a good idea....But IMO is kinda just research and try...find out which method fits you best, try it out, if it doesn't fit you try something else...You could just have a ride along at the next dday and he/she can help you out

I like this idea a lot, and the different excercises sound good. I think it would also be beneficial if we were able to get ahold of some people who were willing to video record every driver's runs, and either show them on a big tv between heats or make tapes for people to bring home or something (its not all that often for some of us to be able to see ourselves driving).

We could probably also get ahold of some scales to measure curb weight, weight distrobution and cornerweight, camber and toe readers, pyrometers, a cheap tire mounting machine, and maybe a method to measure chassis rigidity to help people set up and learn about their cars.

We would have to see who we could get to come down to help instruct, but if the possibility of this event were to become more of a reality, I'm sure that the teaching lineup would be satisfactory even to the guys who are pretty good.

Keep the ideas coming!

sorry but jesus christ, if you need all that weight and other info to drift you need more practice because it simply isnt that level to drift.... maybe to be a professional competitor u need those details to REALLY fine tune your shiet but cmon.... none of that is gonna really be like, well my curb weight is 2300lbs so i need to enter the turn at 42.86mph with a 39degree turn in, with about 69% throttle due to my 4degree camber and the 55/45 weight split...... hahaha im not trying to be a d!ck but ya gotta think about how involved that is.... that would come much later in a CAREER.

I'm not saying that is mandatory, but for those with coilovers, cornerweighting can help quite a bit. Knowing the weight of the car doesn't really matter, unless you're just curious...

Nobody said that any of that shit was going to help anyone drift better

Those that have coilovers should spend their own time and money getting the car cornerweighted. I did.

But hey, if they wanted to spend that money on all day setting their car up instead of getting seat time with an instructor, that's fine with me also!

Jason, GREAT IDEA.

I've tried Ebraking once or twice, but she doesn't loose traction easily. Kinda disappointed. I've even replaced Shocks/Struts on her....and even the front control arm bushings. I think the weak point is the tranny though.
