Sleeper Drift Car/Daily Driver
Hello Drifters. I have NEVER tried this sport but from what I have seen and read I am highly motivated to get into this. I have a love for cars, but I don't like to follow the crowd. I am hoping that I can build up a good sleeper car.
OK I saw on XAT that they have a M30 for sale. Previously I was interested in Nissan Ultima F31's (Leopards). But I never made the connection that the M30 was this vehicle. Its hard to find aftermarket parts for the M30 but I think tuning the engine would be the same as tuning a N/A 300zx seeing as they both have the VG engine. How much power is usually required for drifting?
From what I have read from this site, it appears that the main thing is suspension. I have found a site selling coilovers for the M30, but they are expensive seeing as the M30 is not often tweaked. Just need a list of what order shoud I spend the money on a project car. Im thinking approx....
1. Get car - Under $2k
2. Coilover suspension - 2k
3. Power mods - Intake, Exhaust, Headers, 300zx ECU, Chip - 2k
OR SR20 swap w/manual trans - 5k (xat)
4. Lightweight Rims - 1k
5. Interior mods - racing seats, cage, minor ICE, window tint
6. Upgraded Brakes - ?? (maybe 300zx)
and Practice, practice ....
I know this is long for my 2nd post but I am really interested in this. If there is anything I need but failed to mention can you please chime in. ---- Thanks

Yea I saw a M30 on autotrader yesterday. Going this weekend to look at it. It looks clean, and I don't think the former owners of these type of cars would have ran them to hard. Hopefully. I figure I should get the car and start practicing somewhere 1st before I start dreaming to much and spending all night digging thru japanese websites clicking any link that looks like F31, ultima or leopard. Thanks for the support Bill.
By sleeper I meant unexpected. Where it would be its only make/model at any event. So nobody would hassle a grown man in an Infiniti during the week driving to the office but I could have fun on the weekends.
You can use some s13 and s14 suspension parts. I thought about the M30 too....in fact, here is a thread with ALOT of M30 info...
