Arrow DDay DVD info...

Okay....I've put alot of thought into this.

The DVD will be considered a "Drivers DVD". There will be minimal editing, minimal effects, and even though I'll probably lay a background track (low volume), I don't plan on matching beats, etc.

I don't plan on selling alot of these DVD's. I figure that there were 31 drivers, so I might sell 20. ANYBODY THAT WANTS ONE, CAN BUY 1 (you don't have to be a driver). I just want you to understand that the whole video won't be "perfect" drifting....it will have alot of spinouts.

My reasoning for this is 2-fold.
1. Everybody wants to see how THEY did. (I have SEVERAL runs from EVERY DRIVER!)
2. There isn't enough footage to justify a public consumption video.

After I get tape from a few more events, I'll probably combine them to create a "BEST OF" DVD for broader distribution.

With that said, I don't anticipate a profit. I just want to re-coup my investment in a new HD and memory.

The total cost for the DVD will be $15 shipped (I think that's a fair price). I will take paypal. The DVDs should be ready in 2 weeks. I will accept "pre-Payments" .

You can contact me via e-mail cphelps5@tampabay.rr.com

Thank You and Drift On

Shipped is Shipped. Whether it goes via US Mail, or from my hand to yours. I figured it's just easier to say $15, regardless of the delivery method.

Pretty much. I have over 2.5 hours of video, so I will have to cut it a little, becuase I don't want to degrade the video quality. There will some music, but it will be toned down alot.

Also, my test system is a 63" TV. If it looks good on there, than it will look great anywhere!

Does this mean the price of future DVD's will drop as the hardware is paid for?
And even though it's necessary for making the DVD, charging money to cover hardware costs IS profit...you get to keep all the extra stuff when it's done.....not really meaning to bitch, I just don't like the idea of people making money off of the drivers who had to pay for the event (I'll probably buy a dvd)

Hmmmm.....

prof·it ( P ) (prft)
n.

1. The return received on a business undertaking after all operating expenses have been met.

The cost to produce a DVD (Shipping, DVD, Paypal fee, Packaging, etc) will run about $5 per CD. That leaves $10 per CD. I only plan on selling 20 DVD's. That's $200 net income. Subtract the cost of the upgrades to the computer (which I purchased today) of $400. That leaves me IN THE HOLE $200. bad business if you ask me.

Now, do I benefit from this...yea, maybe, but if people didn't want to see the video, i wouldn't need the upgrade.

will the videos get cheaper? depends.

also, any "profits" will be used to purchase more and better equipment.

notice i didn't include the cost of labor for the hours of taping, editing, and burning?
