damnit, wtf is wrong with these threads, i can't get pics right for anything

anyway, last tank averaged 44 mpg, in tampa traffic

the best part is you only have to fill up every 600 miles or so

was gas the deciding factor between a 1.8T and a TDI? How well does that average out with the price of diesel, isn't it slightly more expensive than gasoline?

Yes and no. First of all, anybody that says there vw is fast is full of shit. They just aren't fast cars. What they do well is, they are quiet, comfortable, not sluggish cars. The vr6 gti that i drove, i ragged rather hard at the prompting of the salesman and walked away unimpressed.

As for the mileage, it is slightly cheaper than the 2.0 and much cheaper than the 1.8t

Diesel 1.80 gallon
Regular 1.60 gallon
Premium 1.80 gallon

Diesel epa of 49mpg, at 1.80 gallon gives 27.2 miles/dollar

2.0 epa of 31mpg, at 1.60 gallon gives 19.4 miles/dollar

1.8t epa of 31mpg at 1.80 gives 17.2 miles/dollar

Granted those are rough gas prices and I've seen more of a fluctuation in diesel than gas. As long as it stays less than or = premium i'll be fine. And plus at 49 mpg and 15 gallon tank, i'll have 735 miles to find a station with cheap diesel.
