Le Mans winner David Donohue used this Viper to conquer The Glen

The top GT car of at the turn of the 21st century? The Vipers fielded by Oreca. They won at Le Mans. They won the FIA GT Championship. And with Jean-Philippe Belloc and David Donohue behind the wheel of this example, they won at Watkins Glen in 1999.



While the win on American soil with an American driver provided great publicity in the home country of Chrysler, the Viper was just as victorious in Europe. Belloc and his teammate Dominique Dupuy won at Hockenheim and Budapest, the latter of which is where they and their Oreca team car lapped the entire field.



Dupuy would later purchase the car. When he bought it, he said, “It was to date the best handling Viper I had ever driven.” Since then, it’s changed hands and been restored to how it raced at Watkins Glen.
