Default The K is being Ghey

I have been having a problem with the K lately. In the morning when I head out to work the car works fine. After a few minutes of driving, say 10-15mins, it will hesitate then stall, no response to gas at all. Then I have to pull over and restart it, then its fine for the rest of the trip. Its happened 3 times so far in the past week. Sometimes I can start it back up immediately, other times I can crank it as much as I want and it won't start for a few minutes.

I have no clue what is causing it. I checked the codes and got a 15 (speed distance sensor) but my computer used to log that code all the time without having these problems. Yesterday I thought it was a vacuum hose that was suctioning itself closed but I fixed that and I still have the same problem.

Any ideas on what can be causing this?

I would change the speed sensor first. Check the timing and also make sure the cam hasn't skipped a tooth. That should do it.

If the cam timing was off a tooth wouldn't the car idle rough all the time? The only thing it is doing is just dying unexplainably. Before it dies it drives fine, once I get it to restart it drives fine. Its weird.

This problem so far only happens in the morning and not everyday. Every other time I drive it I have no problems.

Is this possibly a case of vapor lock? I didn't think the TBI's could get vapor lock because they have a TB temp sensor which I suppose should set off a code if the TB was hot enough to cause vapor lock.

Forgot to add, make sure that all of your electrical sensors are still securely connected. It really sounds like an electrical problem, but if your cam was off a tooth it would run different than normal. If it was your timing, it could have a difficulty starting which may be your problem. Vacuum leaks run equally crappy all the time, so I don't think that would be it.

So far it has been just cruising, like I will give it a little gas to increase speed and the engine will just idle, it just seems to hesitate and shut off. But like I said it only happens in the morning, and almost always in the same area on the way to work. Then the rest of the day its fine. I think it may be some sort of electrical problem too, maybe some kind of short that is getting jarred because of the bad road conditions I travel through to get to work (Florida construction is slower than frozen molasses).

I use to have an 86 Lebaron GTS turbo. It did the same thing. And I couldn't figure it out. Well after buying an trying a couple things, fuel filter, wires, cap & rotor, plugs, vacuum hose etc. I checked the fuel pressure. The fuel pressure was only down like a couple of pounds, like 6 pounds or something I don't quiet remember the exact # of pounds it was. (it's been so long ago) But anyway, it turned out the fuel pump was causing all those problems. Every time I slowed down or stop it would stall. Seemed to be just 10 or 15 minutes after driving it would do that. So check your fuel pressure and see if it is up to spec (after 10 to 15 minutes of running), even just a couple pounds under spec will do that. I hope that helps you.
