all the honduh kids give me such looks when i tell them im running an auto. Its unheard of in their little world. I simply reply with but I have torque and they get all
and go back into their corner talking about iceman intakes and how i dont know anything about cars b/c im running an auto. LOL.
Look at just about all the bracket racers out there.. they all run autos. Granted theyre powerglides but thats still an auto.

Can you say Torqueflite?????
Correct me if I am wrong but the 413s are termed torqueflites just like the 727s and 904s Chrysler made. Also correct me if I am wrong but the torqueflites have a reputation for being excellent auto transmissions that last a long time and can handle considerable power.

for the most part youre right. Although the 413 isnt AS durable as the 727s and 904s.. it is pretty good. Turbo engines do give it a little trouble if you start upping the boost. THey especially hate high(er) boost at part throttle (if using a manual boost controller). But they can be blueprinted and beefed up using other stock parts from other ones and they become very nice!
Can someone explain this thing about blue printing? Does that mean they check all the clearances and tolerances to a factory and then draw up some sort of blue print?
When you say beefed up you mean extra clutch discs and different spider gears? I got this nice ATSG book on the A-413 which describes complete tear down and rebuild and also includes schematics of all the lines and passages the fluid flows through.
All this transmission stuff is fairly new to me only thing I have ever taken out was the valve body filter and torque converter

blueprinting a trans engine carb whatever.. is basically tearing it apart and rebuilding it making sure everything is exactly in spec. No actual blueprints are involved i dont think.
Yes the front drum of the 413 is one of the big weak point (along with the valve body). The budget racers just stuff in an extra clutch pack into the drum. The better way to rebuild it is to either use a turbo mini trans or get the front drum out of a 3.0L 413 trans. Its bigger and holds more clutches yet fits (413 = 413... aint dodge smart!). People also tweak the VBs to make them shift better. Raise the line pressure. And put in heavier bearings.

Yeah I wish they would tag the 413s with a extra letter or something signifying the difference. I knew that some of them were different but not which ones. By chance is a turbo 413 (not including vans) different than my TBI 413?

tbi 413s are the weakest. Then turbo cars and tbi vans. Then Turbo vans. (I believe the spiders are stronger in the vans). Im not sure overall how the V6 ones rate... but v6s are junk anyway. I do know they have the good front drum.. which the Turbo Minis also will have.
Just to clarify an earlier point Honda makes a shitty auto but the manuals handle well over 400HP with the addition of a quaffe lsd. all the pro drag guys run stock trannies.
Looks like the Mistu guys dont recognize one of their own
