Default new to dodge!

So about a week ago i picked up an 05 orange blast srt4 and am enjoying it very much! One question i have is im reading that the factory gauge should be sitting at 0 when you shut the car off. Mine when i shut it off sits at 15 VAC. If this is happening im reading that the gauge is shot, which doesnt bother me because i planned on putting my Defi gauge in to replace the auto meter. Im just wondering if anyone else has this problem and if its something i should replace right away. thanks!

It's a fairly common occurrence for the factory boost/vac gauge to go bad. If you send it to Autometer they'll repair it. You may have to bitch since it's "technically" a Dodge part. (I had to do this right after I got mine.) It's kind of like a Zippo, except with slightly more arguing. But, to be honest, I'd just replace it if you plan on doing any real modding. I don't suppose you're in the NPR/Trinity area are you? I've been seeing an orange SRT around recently, that I haven't seen before.

Always good to see new owners! Welcome!

Join SRTforums.com - Dodge SRT Forums - SRT4, SRT6, SRT8, SRT10 and Dodge Forum ... go to the Florida section. We have a Tampa and its neighbors thread, if you want to keep up with whats going on with us locals. Also its a great site with lots of information. We usually try to meet up every Saturday night and bounce between locations.

The stock boost gauge is crap although I think it looks nice. I decided to take one apart one day to figure out why they go bad. There's a small white plastic piece that flexes dependent on needle movement. When it starts to wear down, the reading on the gauge will be off. A Defi gauge is an excellent choice! Replace the stock boost gauge asap so you know what your actually boosting.
