I always thought that an 8 1/4 rear had a smooth back and the 8 3/4 had a removable backing plate. I had it bass akwards. The 8 3/4 is a welded back plate and the 8 1/4 has a 10 bolt removable plate. I almost came in my pants when I found this out because that means my Dart has an 8 3/4. Jizz to all and to all a good night!!!! (I.E. No expensive $500-$1000 rear end swap necessary)
