I have been looking at a 92 spirit(need a family car) and I was wondering what to look for as far as wear and tear? Also they are asking 5600 for it is that a good price? and also I know the head was made by lotus are the parts readily available? Any feedback is appreaciated.

Someone locally has a 92 R/T?? I owned a 91 R/T myself.. for a few months.. lol. Basically man I can tell you this. The cars are awesome as long as something doesnt break. Most of the factory dodge parts are NS1 for it and the ones that arent are very few left and pricey. Most people with the cars tend to baby them however some guys go all out with them. You are correct the head was made by Lotus. The head is probably the biggest problem with the entire car. Although the head is awesome they were made with steel freeze plugs. And we all know steel and aluminum doesnt expand/contract at the same rate. The heads are prone to cracking because of this and unless they are fixed $$$$ they are junk. Chrysler ate their ass on the warrenty of these. Most people get the plugs removed and have them aluminum tigged shut before they crack. Because of the high tension the cams put on the timing belt the belt is probably the most frequently checked thing on them. So find out when it was changed last! Oil pumps also seem to sieze without wanring on these engines. I guess in summary the engines kick ass and have so much more potential than the 8vs BUT they are way more expensive to repair way more finiky and probably shouldnt be relied on as you primary car to use every day (just in case). If you have deep pockets and want a fun family car to play with on the weekends definatly get it. For more info you may want to join the RT Mailing list http://www.pinnaclecda.com/rtml.htm
Good luck and please let us know if you buy it! 92 RTs are very rare and it would be great to have more turbo dodges in the area!!!

High book value on a R/T in great shape is about $3k. Within the Dodge community sometimes people are willing top pay a bit more if a car is really clean.
But that being said I dont know of any other cars that car make a dyno plot like mine below for the $$$ Ive spent on it. Performance mods were a $147 turbo back exhaust (which I ran throught the cutout on this run) and a $6 boost controller set at 13 psi. All else is stock.
