Any Recomendations On My Setup? Boosted Neon...ALOT OF INFO
I was planning on running a ported SRT manifold, 3" o2 housing & downpipe and a bored srt turbo housing with 20g internals with an AGP wastegate. I've been told that's kind of a waste of money for the amount of power it'll be puting out.
So what other turbo setup for your recomend for around $550? That $550 has to include the manifold, turbo and wastegate. I'd be paying $400 for my ported TD04 housing w 20g wheel, $100 for the ported manifold & $50 for the AGP wastegate.
At this point in my built I have the motor pretty much assembled and ready to run low compression n/a. As the car sits right now it has:
2.4 Stratus motor.
Balance shafts removed.
SRT-4 piston/rods.
SRT-4 oil pan, gasket & oil system.
DCR oil flow modifier
DCR pick-up tube.
SRT-4 water pump.
SRT-4 tensioner.
ARP head studs.
AMM intake manifold.
Hondata intake manifold gasket.
MPX 60mm throttle body.
Unorthodox race udp.
Gates racing timing belt.
I'm about to install the head, I can etheir use 2.0 cams or the set of Crane 12's that I have lying around. I was also planning on picking up a set of Fidanza cam gears.
I think that part of my build is pretty set. Do you agree?
Just wanted to get the motor assembled and running n/a to make sure everything is built and that there are no wiring problems before I throw the whole thing together.
I'm just looking for as much input as possible. I'm not in a super big hurry to finish up the turbo part of this build and it doesn't have to be super streetable. I have these parts lying around at the moment:
Complete SRT turbofold.
Forward motion block-off plate.
SRT intercooler.
Two boxes of intercooler piping.
Crane valvetrain.
Walbro 255 fuel pump.
Vortec FMU.
Map clamp.
Stage1 injectors.
I'm thinking more & more about running Megasquirt, but that'll come a little later on in the build.
So what changes do you recomend with my current motor setup? The first list of parts in my original post was just what I was hoping to comeout with when I'm completely done.

*for $550 i would stick with the srt turbo setup but even that price sounds too high, my friend ported my turboold in an hour for free and i got the 3" o2 and dp for $120 and 90 for a agp wastegate. so that was all only 325 total. the 20g internal turbo sounds fine it all depends what power your aiming for.
*your bottom end sounds good, i bought the srt-4 internal brand new but sold them before i used them, after researching i found many people having issues with the pistons and the ring landings, the rods are pretty good but pistons are good for about stock hp on a srt-4. yeah people are making high #s on stock srt internals but it doesnt last long.
*use the crane cams and get the adjustable cam gears, i have 2.0 cam gears on my 2.4 but just turned them around like you would with stock cam grars and it works perfect.
*i did the exact same thing, i got the 2.4 running n/a and now adding the turbo parts. just make sure to get a wideband so you dont blow it 1st time driving, i just got an innovative that i can plug my lap top into which works great.
