A lot of shifters took a shit over the years. But it could be anything tranny related with one of those things. Hopefully its not much.

best bet do it yourself and its pretty easy if im correct the tps is 2 bolts also and only thing you should get checked is the vacum lines if ya wanna be lazy and have another guy do it and itll cost you 1/4 the price for what your gunna spend gettin that shit done i know because i work at advance and know the prices like the brakes 20 buck for front and it im right 15-25 for rear drum brakes plus 5 for core till you bring back yours or if you got rear discs then 20 bucks no core the clutch cable will cost you 40 plus tax im guessing but most likely you got a dohc? and the tps is 66 for sohc and 78 for dohc hope that helps and if autozone has cheaper and of the same qulity advance will price match

damn man dont pay that shit. you have the tranny, the bushings, the arms and the bushings at the shifter. no just for a comparison today my tranny blew apart inside again, i just swapped in a JY 50 dollar tranny. for the 3rd time in 6 months. its all cake and easy and cheap just read and ask questions and we can walk you through it.
