2.0L DOHC, 2.4L DOHC, 2.4L DOHC Turbo

If you are determined, 2.2/2.5L SOHC Turbo will also fit. I have seen it done, although there is probably only one person who has done it.

any engine will fit if you have the time money and welding skills, but yeah, those are the only ones that are even close to relatively easy(although I believe someone swapped an early turbo dodge motor in as well, over on neons.org)

heh, just noticed you just said that

seen two neons with the VNT motor in em as well, and both owners swear they will never do it again since it was so much work lol.
have seen pics of someone fitting a 4g63t in the neon, but without tranny, hoses, wiring.. this was quite a while ago now, and havent heard anything about it since so i dont know if he abandoned the project or what. havent exactly seen him online so ill have to try to get a hold of him somehow to see what happened there.

your best bet is to stick with the neon 2.0 sohc or dohc, or the 2.4 swap or srt4 swap.

ack, do NOT suggest an SRT4 swap, its a huge PITA, even if you use the srt stuff to do it, best bet is a pre 03 2.4 using SRT internals if you go that route

while yes, the 97-02 2.4 with srt4 internals is an easier route to go.. i still will mention a full srt4 swap. sure theres a lot more work involved on getting it into a 1g.. but its still doable

:::grumbles::: doable if you dont mind your car being down for 8 months that is...he he, actually most of that time was me tracing down problems with the stock wiring...one after another...heh, do you know that the computer has to supply voltage to the fan motor for the heater? how stupid can you get...I ask you, what reason does the computer have to control the heater? its not like we have climate control

heh, I run it all off MegaSquirt, so it took me awhile to trace down all the circuits controlled by the stock paperweight and bypass them...its still not going to run again until monday(waiting for MS to get back from a retrofit) I admit my way is far more difficult than SRT plug and play harnesses, but I'm tired of trying to fool stock computers to get them to do what I want, hence, full control the hard way

The 4 banger race only block that mopar makes will also fit. If I had the time I would drop that in my 96.
