Those trucks used the same ignition switch as the cars did in that era. Its probly the first thing I would look at. The ignition cylinder fits in the switch and the switch is sold separately. Check the connector too, sometimes they get a little hot and need to be replaced. The switch sells for about $65 retail and the wiring is about $38
nope its still doing the samething.my dad was driving it when it got fucked up and hes had a stroke so its hard for me to get info out of him.i guess it started right up then he went to the place parked it and when he went to start it.it was dead and doing nothing.the battery is good, the relays are good.i dried to push start it and arc the starter but it wont fire.i'm lost right now on what it could be.

I would have almost bet my paycheck that the ign. switch would have been the problem. Did you check for power at it before you changed the switch? If it didn't have power then and maybe it's an intermintent thing, only other things I can think that may cause that is neutral saftey switch, shutdown relay (try tapping on it and the fuel pump relay) and engine controller. I'm not sure if it's got a crank sensor on that year truck, thats another possibility. Sorry I got no brains until Monday when I'm at work.
