96 neon w/ srt-4 motor swap
I just bought a second car and thought it might be interesting to give it a shot. has anyone done this or heard of it being done before?

91 ranger, 88 tc 2.3 turbo, stroked, bored, 5.5" crower connecting rods, wiseco 8.0:1 dished pistons, total seal .030 rings, fully ported iron big valve head, racer walsh turbo roller cam, bobs log, holset wh1c, fmic, full 3" exhaust. not really a whole lot left to do.

In all seriousness, it would probably be a lot cheaper (and less time consuming/less headaches), to finance a new or used SRT-4. By the time you shell out all the cash to buy the SRT-4 motor, plus all the neccesary piping, exhaust, etc, you could of instead put that towards an actual SRT-4. They are realitively cheap new, and even cheaper used. Plus you'll have a warranty on the vehicle (assuming the one you buy came with one and still has a balance left on it).
Just make sure to keep the car BPU'ed and you should have no problems about voiding the warranty. Just make sure to swap the OEM parts back in when you take it in to have warranty work done.

umm , no reason to do it, I have done it, and even running off a standalone it is a PITA...much better alternative is a pre 2003 2.4 engine using SRT internals and externals such as water pump, oil pump, pan, etc, the only reason I even did it was because my previous engine failed and I had an SRT engine sitting around I didnt have anything else to do with(oh, btw I have roughly $1500 in this engine, but I am using a bigger turbo I already had, so it is DEFINATELY much cheaper than getting a used SRT) but again, go with an SRT internalled 2.4, cheaper yet and will work with your stock computer...kinda anyway

If some of the guys here are willing to help him, then that's great. Otherwise, he'll be pushing out a nice chuck of dough to hav it installed by a mechanic.
