Default SRT engine into a 1st gen..

call me a little bit intrigued after seeing the "spinna-mobile" at dyno day, but im really curious about how to do this and consider it a very legit swap, what is involved, how much wiring is changed, i assume the motor mounts are the same as its basically the same engine block as the 2.0 that comes stock in the 1st gen, how much would it cost to get the engine/tranny/and what ever else necessary to put the motor in....?!?

go to neons.org. and do a search. its not as easy as it looks. tranny doesnt fit need 2.4 swap mounts and i think he was running a stand alone computer

all you need is a 1g neon , 2.4 mounting kit and your solution as to how you wanna run the SRT motor

www.neonparts.net is the shop who did the car you saw...its owned and operated by the shop's proprietor Jason M....

it actually is Cali...if you go the route jason did. I helped a friend of mine do a 2.4 turbo in his 1g before the srt4s were out...of course he went the all out custom route but same end result. If you start off with an SRT4 motor and wish to run it in a 1g neon your hardest task will be figuring out what and how you are gonna run for engine management. No one has swapped a complete SRT4 setup but you can bolt up a neon tranny to the srt4 motor to make the swap easier. If you decide to keep the srt4 intake manifold you have to get a C&R radiator, slim fans and get rid of the AC compressor/condensor as they will protrude into the radiator space too much. You must! use a 2.4 mounting kit or your swap will take an eternity as nothing will fit the motor to the car unless you make your own mounts. Any other questions
