Default Suspension for DD's EG

TR,

I need some suggestions. My car rides too low and I need to replace the suspension with something new. Years ago, I install a new "lower" suspension (pre-2003?). Then I added a body kit which made it much lower than I wanted. It was fun for the first week.

I been riding low since then and I'm tired of breaking/cracking my front lip on speed bumps, gas stations, my own driveway, etc. Hitting road kill and truck's shredded tires is never fun going at high speeds. So I don't want to hear all the drama about having too much wheel gap. So what it look stock or like a "4x4". Those that ride low know what I mean. You can't really drive the car if I'm always worry about the "angle" going into a driveway, or if I have to park down the road because all the parking area has a steep incline. I had my share of tow truck leaving me on the side of the road because of the slammed car. Too many cops stories and being "profiled".

While I gotten use to riding low to the ground.. I think it time for a change. I want something that is able to go from stock height to about -1.5" drop. I don't care about how low it goes. Otherwise, I'm back to having the same problems. I prefer fully adjustable suspension.

Has anyone use or tried Yonaka full coilover (YMTC001)? They suggest it works from stock height (0") to -4" drop. Otherwise.. if not. I might just go with a standard system like Tokico RAK502. I like it to be a little stiffer than stock, but not racing springs (I had racing Neuspeed one time and that drove me nuts).
The key for me is have the full range of adjustment of "raising" the car to a height that enough to clear the road of all the places I go. I don't care about the lowering range.

I considered "Air bag" type suspension.. but I don't know if that is what I really want. I don't know if they can last 5 or 10 years. I know many with coilover systems that have lasted for 6-10 years.

This is for a DD grocery getter type car with kids in the back.

I would look into air struts if you want to keep the look and still be able to have clearance while driving. Make sure that you have someone professionally install them and set a ride height before you do your alignment. The only thing is you are going to lose stiffness that springs have for clearance adjustments. Maybe call one of the manufacturers of the air suspension and ask them. Just a thought.
