When I install an axle, I make sure it is pushed in as far as it will go.
The back CV joint has a metal casing that will be touching the bearing surface on the outside of the transmission casing.

Does it touch when you push it all the way in? If you want
someone to look at it-no charge, get back with me.-Bob

This is a dumb question, but it is TR and you never quite know.

Is there a snap ring groove and if there is is the snap ring there? Granted, when its all assembled back together, there should be no way for it to come out, but its a thought.

BLUE2KSS,
When someone has a question, the people on here like you
who help members (without being paid)
have to cover all possibilities in a sight-unseen diagnosis.

If I had an axle that was sent from the factory with no groove for a snap ring, or if the snap ring was missing, I would be greatful that someone cared enough to help me, by asking me to check it.

When I found the problem, I would also post up the reason,
as a way to help all of us get smarter.........

and I also wish you good luck on becoming an engineer
we need more good ones.....Thanks, and rep for you. -Bob

You are new here, and you must not know the sheer amount of dumbass questions asked on this site. Hence the qualifier before I gave some advice...

For all I know, you might be some 16 year old kid who cant fix a damn lawn mower

I dont know if you are trying to be an ass here or not. But to let you know, the engineer thing is coming along VERY nicely

Thanks Senor,

Many of us try to help, and with how much I have learned doing Formula SAE and Baja SAE the last three years I try to help as much as possible. Everyday I learn something, whether its a new widget reading Racecar Engineering, a new machining process that one of us has come up with, welding technique from one of the old guys, or 3-D modeling shortcut. Much of what I do does not directly relate to much of what goes on here. But try to help nonetheless

I also appreciate your practical knowledge. I have not done any performance upgrades to a production car in 4 years, and am out of the loop on many questions on here. I would love to show you the SAE shop one of these days soon (I am moving to Panama city in a month). I am also taking the cars to a local car shows this summer since I am now an alumni so I may run into you there.

I will shoot you a PM and try to work something out
