Default Senor Honda compares 3 Brands Of Shocks/Springs/Adjustable Coilovers

The answer........
You know from work I previously did for you that I encourage people to make their best deal on parts, and I will give you the best deal on installation. I don't sell parts, so I have no particular brand to push. .........and when someone quotes you an "installed price" always ask how much less would the price be if they don't install the item.

I looked over these more than once. I can give you some opinions, and you might have to call the mfg's to get a couple specs...............that way you can compare each feature equally across each mfg................or someone else who reads this
can call and ask......
---------------------------------------------------------------
The things I like about K-sports for your car is that they have a dial on top of the center shock bolt that allows fine adjustment (36 settings!) to soften/harden the dampening .........Buddy Club actually tells you how much the damper rate adjustment is (4km per mm either harder or softer),

The pillow ball on top allows a lot less friction as the spring rotates slightly under compression/extension.........that's a lot smoother action than the friction created when a spring doesn't rotate as it compresses/extends. The adjustable camber plates at the shock top are easier to get to, and are my favorite way of camber adjustment compared to sliding a ball joint back and forth in the a-arm while tightening some screws. I know someone who does track days in his Mazda and he says Ksports are VERY tunable to the track and resetable for the street................If the mfg doesn't include the actual coil spring (ask if they do), we can use the coils that you are currently running. Call Neuspeed and ask what the spring rates are for what you currently have to compare with 660front/440rear that is stated with Skunk2.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What I like about Buddy Club is that they are 15 way adjustable to soften/harden the dampening.....you might call the mfg and ask if it is adjustable with a dial on the side of the damper or on top of the center shock bolt....for comparison with Ksports......It sounds like Buddy Club uses a pillow ball on top, (but doesn't specifically say it) same as Ksports, allowing a lot less friction as the spring rotates slightly under compression/extension.........that's a lot smoother action than the friction created when a spring doesn't rotate as it compresses/extends.

BC doesn't say what the spring rates are so when you call, ask what the "engineered rates" are for the springs to compare with 660front/440rear that is stated with Skunk2. BC tells you how much the damper rate adjustment is (4km per mm either harder or softer), and no one else does.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like it that Skunk2 says their spring rates are 660front/440rear. That can be compared when you call and get the other mfg's spring rates. And we now know for sure that springs are included.........which allows you to have two choices between springs that you now have, and the springs that Skunk2 includes, to see which you like best........and your "seat of the pants" is the best way to find out which is better for your particular driving style.

Skunk2 can't give number or method of adjustments, since they are "non adjustable valving" so I don't have anything to compare with the other mfg's since Skunk2 says damping is "track and street tested pre-determined precision valving" and "non adjustable valving" and won't tell me in print what they have the damping set to.....and it cannot be adjusted.......but maybe that's how they sell for less. You might call Skunk2 and ask if they can give you a rough idea of what "pre-determined" is for your particular car.

The final question to ask the sellers is the stated price for a pair of damper/adjustable coilovers or an individual damper/adjustable coilover.

I have given you some things to compare when you call those folks and I hope this will shed some light for an informed decision.

I will need to also look at the car with the new rims to see how low the car can go and still have tire clearance. Some rims prevent people from lowering as far as they
would like to.-Bob
The Question........................
Hey Bob,

I was thinking about purchasing coilovers for a 2006 Civic Coupe. I wanted to send this link to you and see if this would be a good purchase. I'm not sure how low the car could go once these are installed and that's why I wanted to check and see what you thought. I have a set of Neuspeed Race Springs on my car now that you installed a few years back. The drop with those where 2 inches. I have found myself wanting to go lower , but also have the option of adjusting the ride height aswell hence the coilovers. Now with all the different types of coilovers out there I was hoping you could shed some light on something I could be happy with. Ride quality as far as stiffness doesn't concern me. I just want to make sure what ever I decide to get and have installed would be safe. I wish to have my car low , Going over speed bumps sideways is something I don't mind. So If you could possible shed some light as to if the products below would have me sitting low I would appreciate it. Also anything else I might would need such as rear or front camber arms ?. Not sure if it matters or not , but I have 17x7 wheel and run a 215/45/17 tire ...Just incase any rubbing issues or fender rolling would be a concern.

Many thanks.

Here are the three I was looking at .
