Default Tein Coilover Part Recall

If you have one of the following Cars

Mitsubishi
LANCER EVO II/ III (CE9A)
LANCER EVO IV/ V/ VI (CP9A)
LANCER EVO VII/ VIII/ IX (CT9A)
3000GT (Z16A and Z11A)

Subaru
IMPREZA WRX and STI (GDA, GDB, GDF)
LEGACY (BE5)

And have a Tein Type Flex or Type HT and your bottom mount looks like
This

You are eligible for a Free upgrade to stronger bottom mounts that look like THIS

If ran for extended periods the older model can loosen and cause damage or even corrode and crack which makes it even worse.

we can take care of the recall and inspect all your components at the same time. or overhaul..

AND it's a great opportunity to get your suspension inspected and overhauled.

Feel Free to call with any questions: 813-333-1100

we can work an exchange to have the parts in the shop for your appointment so there is no waiting without your car, and it's a while you wait job, in most cases we can keep the allignment settings. but we can also check it while it's here.

According to Tein, those cars are heavier strut based cars, even the S13 which has the smaller mounts is exempt from this recall. and I bet being subaru and mitsubishi the owners might rally them. not a common problem with the average honda or Sylvia.

Jeff, that doesn't sound like a recall to me. Is it one? Or is it a "we'll upgrade the part for free if you care to bother" situation.

they said the part can fail "if run loose" they call it a "voluntary exchange" if it's enough of a problem to go on their front page of their site, I'd bet it's a good Idea to get it done. in my opinion if they are asking for the original parts back, and giving you something new in exchange.. to me that's what a recall is, they can't make it mandatory since these things change hands so often and they don't track owners. plus most of these are Pre-2005 and out of warranty. but hey I give Tein credit for backing up stuff that was sold as much as 7,8,9 years ago or more. They knew it was a problem in 2005 or they wouldn't have changed the design. While they are not friendly when it comes to service parts, their engineering is usually pretty good.
