Default Coilover Overhauling FAQ

I'll edit this thread as info comes in Feel free to ask questions.

1.Which coil overs can be serviced?

Almost anything can be rebuilt, but sometimes it's cheaper to replace the entire cartridge. and a wise man once told me, If it's cheaper to buy it, buy it, if it's cheaper to build it, build it.

How Often Do I require service?

I've seen as little as 7000 miles to "until they break" as recommended service intervals. however stay aware if you start needing to adjust the damping harder and harder to get the same effect it's a sure sign a damper rebuild is in your future. A good Guideline is 2 years or 30,000 miles, if your dampers have this much wear it's about time for a tune up.

and stay on top of them, driving on a blown monotube damper can cause the nitrogen cylinder and Valve piston to contact. this contact can bend and break internal valves and components.

How Much is Overhauling my coil overs?

depends on the model, sometimes the factories are willing to do the work for me at a fraction of what I would charge even with 2nd day shipping it's still a better deal for the end user. and if they warranty the work even better. Now custom modifications, additions of external resivours or revalving will have to be done locally. and the lead time on custom work almost allways hinges on how fast the parts come in.
