I hate it when I come up with something that is feasible, incredible, could possibly make me tons of money, and then I find someone doing it already...

I have this idea, I'll just let it all out... You all may know about how easy it is to download full length movies in DiVX or Xvid formats and play them on your computer.. no big deal right? Well I used to have my computer hooked up to my TV and my home stereo so I could watch them on my big(ger) screen and surround sound... not a bad rig really, but here is the idea... to make a new type of DVD player that will read video files of all formats and playback on your Home Theater system.. Imagine fitting one entire movie on a CD-R or even better... 6 full length movies in near perfect quality on one DVD disc...

They went alot further than I would want to go, plus they keep it too much a computer, I think it should be made into a nice black/silver case that fits with your standard components, and can replace a dvd player... Man you all dont know how much I want to do this, or how big I think it would be... Anyone wanna help?

no... i mean it will play SVCDs burnt onto a cdr but that takes like 2 or 3 discs for one movie, while an avi encoded in DiVX will take only one cd for nearly the same quality... but the format is only decoded by computers right now... not DVD players

 

or, even better (Microsoft would love this) make it so it can decode the WMV filetype as well!
