My computer used to be a networking computer and yesterday it froze up so i restarted it and now its asking me for the networking password when windows comes up. It has the box with name password and domain name. If i just hit cancel or ok it tells me that i need a networking password in order to use Windows...somebody help i have no access to my computer whatsoever...its quite annoying...i tried getting the password from whoever used it before but it was a computer from my fathers work and theres no way of finding out whose it was...thanks in advance for any ideas you have....

Id format the drive start from scratch and install Winblows 98. I wouldnt want NT or any or ther OS made specifically for networking on my home PC anyway. BTW I have Winblows ME and Im starting to like it minus the occasional lock up.

Hrmmmm.... try this
Reboot. RIGHT when it says Starting windows 98 or whatever. Hit F8. If you have to just wack the shit out of F8 from the moment you turn the computer on. Really shouldnt be needed though.
From the menu choose Safe mode.
When it gets done booting up and warning you you are in Safe mode (no shit). Go to Start-Settings-Control Panel. Double click network.
In there you should see Client for microsoft Windows. Double click that. Uncheck the box that says log on to Windows NT Domain.
Reboot in regular mode. I hoppe that takes care of it.

what the hel lare you people talking about. Im running 2000 and its frickin great. When we were playing around with the beta builds they were pretty unstable but when they worked they worked great. The finished product is bulletproof. I have tried many times in my miserable pathetic existance to crash the computer but I cant.

the reason they said he was sol if he was running 2k is that you couldnt reboot into safe mode and tell it to not ask you for a password.
