Default New Weekend Ride

Well new to me at least... I love these things, I have two now.

This one is an '86 Snapper Rear Engine Rider w/ 12hp briggs. I have another that is late 60's early 70's with original 8hp motor that I'm going to restore while using this one.

I've only got 2/3 acre, but its still takes about 3 hours to completely push mow and line trim. These little bastards are about the best mowers you can buy for basic flat lawn mowing.

the one we sold last year was about as old as me...not sure what year it was, but it looks damn near the same as that one...the only thing we ever did besides basic maintenances were new front wheels/tires, and a seat, cuz the damn thing outlasted those 2 items.

snappers never lose, i wonder where my old one is nowadays...

Single blade... tip on end to service, everything easy to get to especially the motor. Turns great, cuts decently. I have been having some issues adjusting the deck, blade and tire pressure to get a perfectly even cut, but I don't think I'm ever off more than a quarter inch or so. I'll take a few pics of the old one when I get a chance, its the OLD 'comet' model named during the space race.

Where can I find a cheap riding lawn mower? Our house is only on 1/3 acre, but I'm lazy as shit.

we got a new snapper after the old one was well...honestly i dont know what was wrong with it..oh yeah, the clutch driving system was getting shitty, coulda been repaired i guess. the new one has too many stupid features like a reverse lockout and it shuts off if you take your weight off this sensor in the seat (and im always jujmping off to pick up sticks and things in the way). its also electric turn-key start (still has the pull handle), but i actually preferred the old style..simpler. always wanted to fix one up too hehe.

jeff, just con one of the local 12 year olds with a crispy 5 dollar bill or something. or hell, you're in seffner, might as well just find the "right" neighborhood and im sure some gitR dun can pawn you off one for like 50 bones.

They make good tractors, I used to work at Armenia equipment when I was in high school as one of their mechanics, another goody is the old cub cadets. The new lawn tractors you see at sears and lowes these days are garbage. I will never buy a newer lawn tractor with a vertical shaft engine unless it is a zero turn.

I've been keeping an eye on ebay regularly looking for some deals. This old cub is right up your alley...

I actually picked up that second mower that is pictured for $50. The throttle controls are all jacked up as well as some cosmetic stuff. It does run and drive, although I can't get it to idle up enough to cut right now. There are some deals out there. I wouldn't expect to find anything that runs & cuts for under a couple hundred bucks used.
