92 S13 all but gone, hello 89 S13
Negative sibling feedback...take it for what its worth:
Bad idea. The last thing you need at this point is a project car. Sure, buy the shell because it is a good deal, but set it aside and work on it AFTER you get a job. Selling your car and dumping your money into a new project isn't going to help the situation. Use the money from selling the 240 to buy a cheap beater (that $500 truck you were talking about) and pay your monthly expenses (rent, phone, insurance, etc) while you are still unemployed.
Trust me when I say this, you need to save EVERY single cent while you are unemployed. I was there for 5-months. During that time I would have never even thought about undertaking a car project...it soaks up too much money and takes away from valuable job hunting time. Sure, like you, I wanted to buy a project car...but I wouldn't have even touched the car until I was gainfully employed.
The number one priority right now is finding a job. If you want to sign the lease on this home (or any other rental) you need to be employed. I've told you my lease is up in February...that day is rapidly approaching.
Hate to put this in a "public" forum, but you need to get this message. Many of the people in here are also your good friends who can perhaps motivate you. It is our responsibility to help you out, give you support, and offer advice which is in your best interest.
You've made some bad decisions in the past...hell...we all have because no one is perfect. I just don't want to see this possible bad decision screw you over.

I've been unemployed with nothing but a project car, it sucks ass.
Much like most communications from you, Alan, I either have to read them via email, the internet or from second hand sources. We still live in the same house for right now, do we not?
And since that was posted, let me go ahead and tell EVERYONE why I have to sell my car.
1. Insurance renewal coming up. Job or not, I can't afford to renew my insurance. They dicked me over pretty good and seem to think 890 bucks every 6 months for minimal coverage is acceptable. Apon shopping around, everyone else thinks the same thing.
2. The current car is in need of more than a few items, one of which is going to be a transmission.
Shall I continue?
The plan was to sell off the current car, use money to get a beater, meet financial obligations and pick up that shell. It's not going to be an immediate *poof* done s13 taking up all finances from the sale of the old one, much like that Mustang taking up our current driveway realestate. Like you, I'm getting some basic transportation and a car to tinker with. I don't want to sell my current car, trust me. It is something I have to do to meet goals. Right now I need 3 basic things: transportation, money and a job. I'm taking steps.

And I'm glad I've got a sister
Seriously guys. I don't want to take sides here because you both are my friends.
Craig, Alan is correct, bills come before toys.
Alan, if Craig is seriously doing this to lower his overhead and get his life straight, then I see it as a good move. Plus having a project may get him motivated as far as looking for a job.

As far as what you should do Craigy pooh, it's so nice to have a brother that's available to give you advice even if is not at home. You should treat him for some pork chop sandwiches when you happen to get a job.

True dat. I never even thought of that but that is a very good point. There's nothing inherently wrong with Craigs car, but its always nice to start with a clean slate and build your own.
What will the neighbors do with 2 project cars though?
