Default Ideas on tree removal prices?

Short story - Tree fell in my grandma's backyard. It didn't hit anything, but is between three houses. She got one quote for $5,500 and signed a contract. Is she getting price gouged?

I think it's way high, but I have no idea. The tree is an old grandfather oak, so it's pretty big, but not $5,500 big, I don't think.

Anyone got any experience on this?

Thats about the going rate...

gf's father in orlando had a huge oak take a dive and they quoted him $5K... of course, even as cheap as I am, I looked at the tree and said "pay the guys"... haha

a small oak fell in the parking lot of my work, it took these guys like 4 hours atleast to get it all cut up and cleaned up....i couldnt even imagine a huge grandfather oak....its very time consuming to cut each limb, each branch into sections and carefully "disassemble" the tree....$5k is soo much money tho, thats a shame to waste it on a damn tree

chainsaw + land to throw it in. We lost a lot of trees, and just sawed them apart, loaded them in the f150 and drove to the woods.
