i would purposely go in the attic and unscrew the line. just so:

A) he has to go up in the hot attic and sweat his ignorant balls off.
B) maybe he'll HAVE to test the line and then he'll be like well derka dur, it was the line all along.

Step 1: Place said modem in dishwasher.
Step 2: Cycle 5-7 times or until you deem it is appropriately clean.
Step 3: Watch Brighthouse tech dork replace modem because it won't work.
Step 4: Interweb forever.

Any time you're on the phone with them, ask for their supervisor from now on. They have account notes and should see that shit. Just be a bastard. It works in my line of work, I would expect it to work well at Dimhouse.

Hope that helps.

HAHAHAHA

yes it is much better in person...

I was having trouble not laughing when matt finally passed the customer service rep from blighthouse on to me the other night. I was tellign her that it's no big deal really because this shit has gotten tot he point where it is an ongoing comedy show for matt and I. we were placing bets on how long it would take for the "new" modem to do the same thign as the old modem with our "perfect signal".

blight house is at garage 803 as we speak. hopefully giving us a new modem to "solve" the problem for the next 40 minutes! and then we get to call back again! I'm sure matt will update when he is back online at home.

my favorite part of this whoel ordeal was the day matt was home in the evening waiting on the service call. the tech calls my cell (home ph# on the account) to try and tell me he was on the way. HIS cell phone drops the call 5 seconds in. and so i call customer svc to tell them what just happened and to tell dispatch that someone is home and to just go ahead and head over. mind you this conversation takes place less than 5 minutes after i originally got the call form blight house service guy...

"we're sorry sir. that tech has gone home for the day since he was not able to contact anyone at your house prior to the service call. there are no ther techs in your sector today"

/myself

i wait in anticiapation to the outcome of todays service call...

apparently we were getting +10dB outside and -10dB at the modem.

a 20dB drop...not very good. indicative of a bad splitter!

replaced splitter resulted in +7dB at modem. a 3dB drop just like it is supposed to be!
