Spontaneous life/thought changing ideas
I had another one yesterday. Been having too many of these lately. Anyway, ive never really wanted to goto NYC, I just for some reason dreaded going there. So yesterday sitting in traffic. It just popped in my head, " I wanna goto NY now" So after work I called my best friend whose from LI and he was there recently as well. He was cracking up that came outta nowhere. But It looks like we are gonna be going up there hopefully sometime before August before he starts school. He has friends of the family that live on L.I. that arent far from the train to the city. We are gonna drive up there and sleep there.
Im thinking of saving up and taking $400-500. I think that should be plenty, I dont plan on doing much, most if that will be for food. Any cool places I should check out that arent really known?

i thought this was gonna be all emo and stuff... its just a note to say you're going to NYC... its not like you... 
Well, have fun, I don't know how far $500 will get you there... just eat at china town and it'll last you a month...

I wasn't too impressed with the city. It was way crowded and I almost got hit by a few cabs.
If you want to venture to upstate NY, I can tell of a few great outdoor places that you could get some killer photos of. The Shawnagunk Mountains (The Gunks) is an awesome place to climb and you would love the scenery. It's about an hour outside of the city.

NYC is tons of fun. Don't bother waiting in line to take a ferry over to the Statue of Liberty as it is closed indefinately (but you still can wander around the island if you are so inclined).
It is worth paying the $5 or so for a full day pass on the subway, as walking takes to damn long. Definately visit Time Square, but don't eat at Roxy. I spent close to $60 on a deli meal for two (two sandwiches, fries, and a coke). :o
Try NOT to eat in NYC as much as possible (it will take the majority of your money), but have at least one pretzel. The ones sold out of shopping carts I find are the best, but any pretzel stand sells the same exact pretzel.

I plan on just making food at the ppls house we are staying at. I dont plan on eating in the city unless I haev too. I guess im sorta just going there jsut to go and chalk it up as a life expirence. Any cool clubs to check out?
And Frances, I wouldnt mind seeing upstate for that reason, but I got relatives in indiana, colorado and nebraska id see first and check out the scenery there
