Thanks for all your advice. Today we put the deposit down and the lease will be signed tomorrow.

I too am a firm believer in spending time apart. Heck, I don't even live with her now and I need at least one evening away from her to hang out with my friends. We both realize we need our space...at least for now.

So here comes the pre-move in argument #1:

What to do with our bikes. I have an $800 Cannondale mountain bike, and she has a $400 Trek. I want to hang them in the tiny alcove area under the stairs and put some sort of curtain or something so you can't see them when you are in the living room...she wants to chain them to a tree in the back yard. WHAT THE FUCK...it isn't a friggin $49.95 Huffy!

Even if I was guaranteed the bike wouldn't be stolen, I still don't want my bike rotting out in the elements. Granted, I know she doesn't want people seeing bikes in our living room (oh, the horror )...but this is rediculous. The other option is put them up in the den/office upstairs, which she doesn't want to do.

What the hell is it with women? Its not like I want to store my cylinder head in the living room or perform a transmission rebuild in the bathtub (although it probably will be sitting in the den) .

Mark my words...I shall win this argument...or lose my testicles trying.

Just go ahead and hang them there. You're protecting your investment. She can put hers outside if she wants to, but you're paying half the rent as well. YOU DO have your say. Plus, it is trendy suburban and can be used as a decoration (says the style/design guru Maite ). The curtain solution makes sense.

You just moved it out to the patio to make room in the kitchen for mine.

I thought about that, but I think those things are at least $200, aren't they?
