What's special about the RENEGADE EDITON?
Jeep first adopted Renegade badging for the inside door panel of the 1964 Wagoneer. More recently, it appeared on CJs and Wranglers in the form of ostentatious stripes and was finally retired after the 1994 model year. For Jeep executives, the Renegade name apparently calls to mind the brand's rebellious spirit, and so it is fitting indeed that the youngest Jeep in the lineup would assume responsibility for this loaded moniker.
As before, the Renegade trim level has nothing to do with performance, criminal or otherwise, and merely refers to cosmetic treatment. At least it's showy cosmetic treatment. The Liberty Renegade's roof-mounted light rack and bolt-on fender flares have all the subtlety of riot gear, so this would be as good an opportunity as any to mount your National Rifle Association and "Back the Badge" bumper decals. The running boards actually serve a functional purpose — besides aiding entry and exit, they can be removed for rugged off-roading adventures.
Like the Liberty Limited, all Renegades get a body-color grille and cladding, though their front fascias are two-tone. Exterior colors are limited to field and stream hues, including Bright Cactus Green, Light Khaki and Bright Silver. Sixteen-inch white-letter tires mounted on aluminum wheels are standard.
