Right, they don't charge tax, but they also don't register everything and all that on the spot.
It is my understanding that salvation army just signs the title over to you and that's it.

they hold them at there locations. go online and check for those. I have bought cars from there before that were a good deal for me to keep them and drive them. Ive went there and got a few aswell that i was able to flip. But remember to keep the title fee and buyers premium in mind when thinkin gabout buying to flip becasue you HAVE to pay that. they will register it title only and not make you tag it which is nice if your going to sell it.
what do you mean buyer premium?
Goodwill charges a management fee..but it is only like 40 bucks...
and the tax that goodwill charges is the same tax that the DMV charges. It isn't anything extra. Its just the registration crap we all get nailed with.
Most of the goodwill cars end up getting sold to used car dealerships who clean them up and sell them off.
I bought a 97 corolla that needed an alternator tensioner for less than 500 bucks. fixed it. cleaned it. sold it for 1,500 bucks.
You can get good deals, especially if you can do the work to fix them yourselves.
The "mechanic special" cars they sell for the same amount they would get for them at the junkyard, which I think starts at 350 bucks.
It is worth paying attention to. You can get some pretty good deals on some pretty nice cars if you pay attention to it.
