Nobody here has ever thrown a rod? Car threw a rod 2 years ago driving on I-4 back from Tampa to Orlando therefore the car and old motor at the time had 55K miles on them... therefore after putting in a remanufactured motor from Honda that had 15k miles on it was dropped in and has run fine ever since. I have all receipts from when the blown motor was taken out and new one dropped in... basically you have a slightly older car, with an even newer motor...
and yes, the thrown rod did not happen just because.. the old motor was dropped into a lower gear and over-revved early in its life.. which was jeeez when i think about it.. 4 years ago, i was still in high-school.. so the motor was a ticking time-bomb to go for about 2 years till it finally did just give out.
But again... remanufactured motor has about 40K miles on it now and runs like a champ, never had any mods on the new motor besides the AEM intake currently on the motor right now...
