Testing Waters - 91' Isuzu Impulse RS - F/S F/T
Hi.
This is a post regarding the possible sale or trade of a 1991 Isuszu Impulse RS, namely, an AWD turbocharged 1.6L 4 cyl. car, for those of us who have not heard of it. Before I had seen it, I didn't know about them either. The websites say only about 800 of them were released in North America.
The car has a clean title, and 74000 original miles. A new stock/replacement 255lph fuel pump was just installed about two weeks ago at CFP, and today, 10/16/06, they put new NGK plugs, and used T-bird fuel injectors in it. It starts up, idles badly, and dies if you rev it and do not hold it at like 1000-1500 rpm in place of Idling. Ivan took it around the parking lot, so it gets in gear.
The guy I had bought it from, about a month ago, is a certified mechanic, and had meant to repair the car for his daughter. They're moving so he had to dump off the project.
In any case, this guy told me at the time of sale that he had done a timing belt, an O2 sensor on the turbo, the turbocharger itself he repeatedly maintained was a "no street mileage" replacement, and that he reground his own brake discs. I also split the cost of a battery with him.
So far I believe him on the belt, Ivan checked it, and its new and timed right.
By the way this car's paint is poor. It was gunmetal, but it was sanded down to its primer. It has a Mayo-Jar-Lid-Sized rust hole in the body under the driver's side door. This is not on the frame, nor has it corroded into the cabin of the car.
Anyway, If anybody has a S13 KA dual cam and would like to trade it, I'd most likely jump at the chance.
If not, I'm looking for around 1500, to cover the cost of the car as stated on the window (chalky paint stuff) and the repairs that have been done already.
I'm sorry if this looks like I'm wussin' out on a rare car. Honestly, I lost my delivery job at Hungry Howies, and have had trouble getting down to USF st. pete since my jetta literally cracked a strut. This car is taking too long.
I'll goto CFP early this week to take a load O' pictures, again, I dont think anyone there would mind if you went and looked at it.
Call me, PM me, E-mail me...

Yeah, yea im new here, to forums in general i mean.
Which leads me to question the phrase, "car in sig?" This is not to be sarcastic, as I really am struggling with this concept.
I'm just gonna Newbheartedly - (invented term referring to any of the perhaps foolish actions often taken by a "newb"; the said action informed by the uniformation afforded to the class of people known as "Newbs," aka. N00b or Newbz... adj. see: "stupid assumptions) assume here that you are willing to trade the car in your "sig" or "post siginature," for the Impulse...
Don't get me wrong, any AWD DSM which comes with the parts it needs to run would be a good deal, although I was really looking for some kind of S13 KA dual cam beater (even the beatziest of beaterz), or cash...
Hey good news though, the guys on the isuzone forums are pointing more towards just a sheer richness issue in the idling problem. The aforementioned T-bird injectors are intended as an upgrade from the stock 322cc ones, which is normally coupled with a ford T-bird turbocharger, from the same years...I'm pretty sure that was 89-92 or something.
Anyway, stock injectors or an engine management system have been pointed at as possible remedies for the idling problem....Unfortunately I dont have the resources to obtain some Haugh-dolla-fance-ass Haltech ou le Megasquirte box. Nor do I know how to install or use one.
Thanks for the offer though.
ALSO: Will get pics up, actually had the pics today, but the camera was left on the trunk of my brother's car....I wound up with an empty camera bag in the middle of 118th ave about ten minutes later. Explitives dont quite cut it for this kind of pissed. Representatives from CFP have graciously obliged to take a few photographs tomorrow in my stead, an have expressed tacit sympathy for this run of luck in doing so. Thanks out to them.

I wish I had room for another.... BUMP
check your Isuzone PMs... problem is likely a simple IAC valve cleaning.
