Testing Waters - 91' Isuzu Impulse RS - F/S F/T
Bumparoo!
Going to check valve timing today, get everything in line pulleywise. If a timing light manages to show itself around here I'm goin' for that ten degrees...
Byauuughhhh!!!

Okay. Valve timing is right on then...I was mixed up cause the crank has to turn twice for the cam gears to turn once due to the relationship of belt length to pulley rotation...Learn something every day. The spark is there, it starts and chugs from about 700-1000 rpm down to zero. Isuzone.org is pointing to an ECU. Right now the last guy who had one up for sale is banned...whatever.
PRICE DROP - Reason: Frustration.
$1200 you tow it the hell outta here. I'm in Seminole.
Still open for trades, the last one fell through.
Thanks

Has spark, Fuel, (HELL YEAH) starter is strong...even the stock lotus suspension is still stiff...
If the spark is going then the CAS is good, or at least making the coilpacks fire...Still that check engine light remains solid...
Must be the ECU. Maybe I fried it popping in those stock injectors without jumping the ALDL to learn mode...worst part is that to pull codes w/o a reader you need to read them off of a BLINKING CE light.....OMFG ROFLOL FUBAR
E.C.U. !!! - and the only guy selling one on the zone right now is banned again. I wish he would have just shut his face long enough for him to sell the thing out to me. Maybe I can get him on an email addy or something..
EUFUGHAARGH!!!

Bump, Im in the process of obtaining an ECU.
Faulty ECU could explain failure to idle at just about any CAS ingnition timing setting, with the jumper in. Plus I cant pull codes from the one I've got.
So, In theory, maybe the fact that it has crappy throttle response and tops out at 5000 has somehting to do with a dying ECU. Pulsewidths are off or out of time, spark is there but nowhere near where it should be....makes sense that the ECU might not be advancing the timing as you increase RPM correctly, and the same thing might be explained as the car is "leaning out" around 5000.
Good luck to me. Yeah, yea I can wish myself luck...like a self-lucking, or some kind of MasturLuck.

Guy with the ECU dosent have an RS to test it in. Plus he wants like $80 bucks for it. Negative on that one. I'll keep looking. Checked the Throttle Position Sensor as instructed by said guy, seems intact (its one piece anyway) but I still cant pull codes from the assembly line diagnostic link plug...which would have told me if it was broken in the first place...
Buy this car, trade me something, or I'll fix it, whatever comes first.
You find an ECU...
