FS: 1990 Eagle Talon TSI
I'm about to cry...
Well, I have to move by the end of this month, my bank account is creeping dangerously close to zero, and this car, while receiving my blood, sweat, tears, time, and money for the last couple of years, has been really more of a hassle than I ever expected. For these reasons, I've decided, regrettably, to let it go.
Here's the deal:
1990 Eagle Talon TSI (Black)
Chassis: 106k miles. Four month old paint (glossy black). "Carbon Fiber" look interior (full, including door inserts). Good dash. No tears, stains, or cracks. Clear corners.
Engine: '91 Six-bolt (this means all '91-'94 electrical engine components as well (i.e. TB sh*t, CAS, Coil, PT, etc.)). Fully rebuilt 600 miles ago (pistons, rings, valves, seals, front case, and so on). Balance shafts eliminated. New timing belt and tensioner installed during the rebuild as well.
Tranny: Stock (either '91 or '90 - I never cared to check). It shifts into all gears without any grinds. First gear is a little touchy, though (which could have a lot to do with this shifter bushing disintegrating entirely).
Suspension: KYB AGX adjustable shocks all the way around. Front strut bar.
Wheels: '90-'91 Talon Swirls. Two have newer Continental tires. The other two have good Michelin tires.
Modifications:
Exhaust: 2g exhaust manifold (ported and tapped for EGT). External dump o2 housing. 3" turbo-back exhaust (polished Magnaflow muffler).
Intake: Stock intake with hacked air can and all free mods (outside of all-out hacked MAS).
Intercooler: FMIC (Spearco core with polished end-tanks) 21" x 9" x 3". 2.5" glossy black, beaded piping with 1g crushed BOV. 2g TB elbow and Dejon Tool glossy black J-pipe.
Turbo: 14b turbo with 113k miles and minimal shaft play. Joe-P manual boost controller (always set at 15psi).
Cooling: Aluminum end tank radiator (new) with two SPAL fans (12" and 10") equiped with aluminum mounts (black finish). One of the fans is wired to be always on (when key is in the "ON" position).
ECU: Rebuilt '91 - '94 ECU (non-eprom)
Tuning: APEXi S-AFC (silver with blue face - not the newest one, but not the knob style - the one in between those two). Palm m105 with Tunerstein and MMcD as well as cable.
Engine Management: Dual A-pillar pod with Autometer EGT gauge and Autometer '30/30 boost gauge.
Miscellaneous:
All free mods (EGR block-off, vacuum lines eliminated, etc.)
Cruise control eliminated.
Jensen CD player
Custom bezel/mount for S-AFC (for lower DIN)
Roadmaster 6.5" and 5.25" speakers (rear/door) and Pioneer 4" speakers (dash)
Rampage Alarm Security system (AA-929)
New hatch struts
93'/94' CAS (black top)
Uninstalled parts:
Walbro 255lph HP fuel pump
Fuel pump rewire kit
RC Engineering 550cc injectors
Greddy turbo timer
Solid motor mount
There is probably more that I've overlooked, but that is, I believe, most of the important notes.
The only issue with the car currently (and the straw that broke the camels back) is that it has now decided to smoke. It's symptomatic of a blown turbo (big cloud) and there is some oil dripping from the o2 housing. I'm fairly confident that's what it is, and totally confident that I can't afford to fix, restore, and build this car any longer. The CEL and "no spark" issue of a week ago has desisted (new ECU), but the smoke is here to stay, it would appear.
But, besides the smoke, the car has no major issues...wheel hop during 1st and 2nd gear pulls, but what do you expect from a fwd
Anyway, I'm asking $3000. I'm pretty firm on this price because:
A: I've put well over $3k into it.
B: I've busted my ass building this car, and it shows.
C: I love this car and I'm depressed about letting it go - I don't want to be depressed about not seeing any money from the sale also.
D: I can get over $3k in a part out.
I've got tons of pictures, but I'll post a few in a few minutes.

Here's a recent pic of the exterior.

Here's a little over a year old pic of the engine bay.
Here's a more recent pic of the engine bay.
Here's a good shot of the FMIC.
Anyone who has seen the car knows how clean it is under the hood and how clean it is inside. And, anyone who has seen the car recently (since body work and paint) knows how clean the body is. This car is a 9-10 if it didn't smoke. It's pretty.

I don't think I'd trade for anything. I don't want to sell the car, except I need the money and I can't deal with $200 a month in insurance when half of that is for a car I almost never drive, but continue to restore/build.
I'd much prefer to sell this car stock. It will look essentially the same (except there will be no front mount up front and know Magnaflow out the rear). If someone wants it in stock form, we can negotiate a price, but I'd like $2k in stock form (obo). At stock, you're looking at:
1990 Talon TSI
106k miles on chassis and tranny
600 miles on fully rebuilt motor
4 month old paint
perfect interior
cold A/C
turbo leaks oil (no more than $150 to replace).
With a good turbo (and this turbo still builds boost fine), the car could sell in stock form easily for $2500 - if patient for $3500. But, I need the money and my heart lies in the build of the car, not the platform.
