Yes, in an auction. Those cars are extremely desirable and unless it's had the absolute shit beat out of it, it's going to bring a premium. Every time I see one pull in at an auction, dealers drop what they're doing and crowd around, I run off and get some steals while nobody is looking On another note, I may be interested in selling my Roadmaster soon, $7000 firm. It's not a SS, but it runs 12's and has the same drivetrain. I also picked up a clean 96 Roadmaster, pewter/dark maroon interior, 93k, I'm planning on running it on E-bay, but I'd take $6000 if anyone's interested. I understand they aren't Impala's, but that's about as close as you're going to get for that kind of money

On the Manhiem Market Report, 1996 Impalas with 70k-90k miles have sold for 8-9 thousand dollars. No you dont and you wont see one in the auction every day but that the money that they do.

And a 1994 with 51 thousand miles did 9100.

I will never, ever, in a million years understand why anyone that considers themselves anything remotely close to a car dealer would spout off what cars go for at a dealer only auction, only to later wonder why they can't sell anything at a profit. Since this is a reveal all thread, Black book wholesale on a 96 Impala SS is $8100 rough, $10,050 average, and $12,200 clean, so I'm sure the ones you are citing were very nice cars I watch them because I like to buy and sell B-bodies, and no, you're not going to get a clean average to low miles one around $8000 as you stated above. You may get one with low miles, but cosmetically challenged, or in really great shape with high miles, but very rarely are you going to find great shape, low miles, together on the same car and have it bring anything less than average book. Especially here, this is Florida, dealers fly in from all over the country to buy our cars because of no rust, are you telling me a low mileage Impala SS in good condition isn't even going to bring average wholesale when people from all over the country are bidding on it?

I started this thread to try to find a lump Impala that I could fix up for a daily driver. The fact of the matter is, I researched what they sold for in Manheim Auctions. So I Know how much that they sell for. On MMR they show you miles and condition its a very good tool we use it every day. And we must be doing something right because we are racing a 8 second 2004 Undercover car and your racing a 12 second buick.

well, if you can get one so cheap, stfu and get one, and no one asked about your "8 second" car or anything relatively close to it.

How in the fuck do the times one's car runs dictate whether or not they know the car business? Saying shit like that tells me you really don't have a clue. Manhiem auction report is great for getting a ballpark figure, but they don't have pictures, you have to go on what someone else thinks the condition is (usually some lot porter at the auction ) All the auctions also mail out results, which lists condition absolutely nowhere, only miles, options (if they weren't too lazy to put them in), and what it sold for. To really know what they go for, you need to be there, see the condition yourself, and watch it sell. I do this, and I promise you, nice ones are not going anywhere near rough. It's funny that we are even arguing this, I'm arguing based on what I've stood right in the auction lane and witnessed in person, and you are arguing based on what you read on a web site, yes, you truly do know what you are doing. This really is pointless.....................

i am a dealer in orlando, and all the chicos flock when an ss comes through, they atleast do average book, every time no matter what shape or milage. 8k is not possible unless it needs 5k worth of work.plus with mmr you have to take into consideration wheather that auction had a factory or salvage sale that day , because that will effect what a car will do that do too .....
