Default need help

hey guys i was just wondering if the 96 318is engine will work with a 92 318i with out any mods? This is my first bmw so i dont know much..thanks for the help

don't hold me to it but Everything i would imagine is the same Minus the Ecu. They are pretty much identical motors Except the 318i motor is a 8valve motor & the 318is is a 16valve motor

If anything the most i would imagine the swap to take would be Motor,Wiring harness, & Ecu. I would imagine the trannys are the same. Hope this helps out I just don't know much about the 4 bangers & swaps.

The 92 is OBD1 , the 96 Is OBD2. so the intake, sensors, wiring and ecu are different. Unless you swap the car over to OBD1. There are articles on the web on how to do this. 1996 I think is the 1st year they went to ODB 2 on the 4 cyl.

Also I recall hearing the early engines had a different and crank and timing chain set up.
