Default e36 5spd question!

i want to do a 5spd conversion to my 325i but having never messed with bmw's im not sure of the difficulty, ive done plenty of 5spd conversions on 240sx's so figured maybe its close to the same process? for example

i would just need?
tranny, clutch, flywheel w/ bolts, driveshaft, shifter assembly, pilot bushing,
clutch pedal, slave, master, clutch lines, clutch of course, and take care of the brake pedal

after getting all this just rewire the park sensor correct?, is there any other wiring involved?

also if anyone knows what parts are interchangable that would be appreciated

Id check these Forums. I have done E30s, but not e36s.
Bimmerforums - The Ultimate BMW Forum - Powered by vBulletin
Roadfly.org
bimmerfest - BMW Forums

I have read up on how to do this to a E34. the 5 series, but from the same era and your list above is correct. Plus the flange on the rear diff was bigger, so that also needed to be swapped out Or you could put the smaller one on the driveshaft.

the 5 speed trans from any M50 twin cam will work. ( so theM3, 3 series and 5 series) Also the flywheel- clutch assembly from the M3s will work and be stronger. Pedal, linkage and driveshaft lengths I dont know about.

ZF's are the same tranny's as 328's and M3's.

Yes a 318 will work if its from a twin cam 318.. Its a shorter transmission and will need a longer driveshaft than the 325 trans.
Its also weaker.. wont last as long.

Getrag 250's are all the same from 318's and 325. I think there the same length too.
