so i was thinkin about doing wat this guy did:
his car is a 1997 328i.The motor is a 2.8 liter at this time the motor has pushed 635 horse power to the wheels.Getting that power to the ground is another story. The best part is, it is a all stock motor except a m50 manifold and low compression gasket.
635Whp 590Wtq Built and installed By ICS

Engine:Stock 2.8 liter,M50 manifold,550 injectors,Cometic head gasket,Arp head studs
turbo:Gt35/40, ICS custom piping with 4 inch intake,E-boost controller,hks 40mm waste gate,AA exhaust manifold,Spearco intercooler, AA Alcohol/water injection,greddy boost and fuel gauge,aem afr meter,ics custom 3 inch exhaust,greddy turbo timer
Stock Ecu, AA/Ics tuned
Nx express Intercooler spray,DEI co2 fuel and air cooler
Fuel:walbro255 pump,ICS fuel rail,Aeromotive fuel pressure reg.
Trans:M3 5 speed,Clutch masters fx800 dual disc ceramic bronzed clutch, cluth masters light weight flywheel,UUC evo 3 shifter,UUC steel braided clutch line,UUC trany reinforcment bushings and cups,UUC Clutch stop
M3 rear frame,Turner solid frame bushings, turner weld in reinforcment plates, turner solid mono ball trailing arm bushings,UUC Adjustable Rear Control Arms,H&R lowering springs
M3 differential with 3.15 gears
VIS carbon fiber trunk and hood
Kosei 16x7 front
kosei 17x8.5 rear, Nitto drag radials 245/45/17

anyways i was tryin to do this to mine but im not lookin for 600hp im lookin for around 380-450hp anyone have any input on this?

M52's respond very well to boost, but you'll want to freshen up the head (thicker gasket, heavier springs, HEAD STUDS!!!) if you decide to go over 7 or 8 psi. Just like the M20 engines, the head gaskets seem to be the weak link on the M52.

Reprogramming or standalone fuel/ignition management (read: dyno time) and significantly larger injectors will be a requirement no matter what.... so remember to factor that into your projected costs.

EDIT: I just noticed you're in Riverview....lemme know once you get the parts lined up, and I'll give you a hand putting it all together.

STS does remote-rear mount systems, and currently do not offer any systems for BMW's. I've been trying to get STS to get us a kit to play with and see what we can come up with for a kit, I am toying with doing this project to another BMW we have in house here in the future. We are also currently about to build an E36 M3 with an M52 powerplant, pushing for 600-700whp, but we will be going further than just a HG and headstuds, this will be a full bottom end to top end build. Ill post a link for you to follow once we start gaining speed on the project. your more than welcome to visit the shop at anytime to check things out. We also have an 04 M3 currently pushing over 780Whp and looking for more! Keep posted! And good luck with your project!

a sts universal kit would be a good starting point if remote mount turbo is what your thinking, i prefer top mount something sexy about it lol

tuning is going to be the fun part, before you figure out you can afford all the parts and install it yourself give a bmw tuner (such as nick g/active/hpf) a call and ask how much for a tune for the kit and make sure you have that figured in your costs. also add about 5k in random shit and broken parts.

good luck and go big boost!

There is no reason to put an sts rear mount kit on your bmw, There is plenty of room up front and it would be more cost effective. For the hp you want a gt30 would be perfect! You are looking at a complete setup for around 8-10k installed.

I was just talking about rear mounts with a buddy today and it reminded me of something about rear mount and e30's. It has been done before. A guy on bf did a rear mount set up back when i did my top mount in the e30. My set up ended up being cheaper, more efficient (made more power with less boost), and more reliable. Just a little heads up on that.
