only reasonable one is a 633csi diff out of a manual car.
another options are 524td 528i,and 535i.
prob with the last ones is its a pain to find one with a decent ratio since almost all of them were autos.
the best ratio available is the 3.25 from the csi. but you can prolly swap the ring and pinion for a 4.10 or 3.93 or even the 4.27 if your not crazy about high speeds.
or if you are baller you can buy a 188mm spool for 600 bucks from metrix motorsports.

I have 2 open diffs. wanna trade ? Ill trade you 2 opens for a LSD.

And there are always e30s at cophers U pull with open diffs. An auto car will have a 4.10 a manual will have a 3 something. you can also get a good one out of a e30 318, the 4 cyl cars were in the high 3s.

If you use the diff out of a 5 or 6 series you will need to swap out the rear cover, I am pretty sure the mounting point is different.
Plus most of the ratios are for hiway crusing on the 5 series.

auto 3 series came with a 293 i believe.
but your right the 318 did come with an open, i did not realize that.
ideal would be a 5spd 318i with the 4.10.
