Well you should be able to start the bike, put a muti meter/voltmeter on the battery, and rev the bike, if the volotage goes up your charging.

I take it your battery is not holding a charge??? 90% of the time its the battery, I remember reading sometime ago in a bike magazine that for ever start of the bike it take an average of 20mins hiway time to recharge for that start, so they go dead often.

Hope this helps

what i tried was while the bike is running dissconnect the positive terminal on the battery and see if the bike would stay running of the stator just like the alternator on a car but it didnt work it the bike itself shut off so thats what gave me the idea that stator is bad...

NO, the stator does not produce enought power on its own to ru a bike without a battery, it will just die. That is why it takes so long for the battery to recharge after a start, it is not like a car alternator that produces alot of power, so if your bike isnt running when you go down the road i suggest you replace the battery. Yausa makes soem good batteries.

Hope that helps
