Default suggestions for first bike. please help!!!!!!!!!!!

alright i have ridden bikes before. the only problem was that the bike was a 93 honda nighthawk. im almost ready to get my first bike and i need help. i want to have some technical tips before i go out test driving. these are my problems.
1) i've only driven a 93 nighthawk, and it was not fast enough
2) i am only 5'6'' and 120 lbs

so i want a fast bike, but it has to be something i can handle. and i know everyone is going to tell me start off small, so i dont want to waste your time, ill tell you straight up i wont get anything smaller than a 600, but i wont get anything larger than a 1000, and i probably would not get a 1000. my 2 good friends just got their first bikes, one got a hayabusa, and the other got an r1, if you have ever been to the winghouse show then you have probably seen them. so i kinda want to be able to keep up. i have heard that hondas are very easy to handle and light. i have also heard that ninjas are not good first bikes because they are wiley in the ass end. i also heard that all sport bikes can be lowered from stock, with just an adjustment. i plan to spend from 3000-3500 or less. i dont want an older 91 either. so please any help is greatly appreciated. thanx.

You should defiently take the MSF course before you buy a bike it will prevent you from making alot of stupid mistakes and you will also get your license.

From reading your post I suggest something like a suzuki SV650. They are a great bike to learn on, handle great, good amount of torque, inexpensive, and most importantly wont kill you. My friend got a 2001 new out the door for like $5000, used they are muuuch less.

Now let me tell you, your friends are idiots for getting liter bikes for their first bike. Yeah they might look badass and be faster, but you will learn to ride %100 better than they will on a small bike, you will live, you save money, and to tell you the truth after a few months of learning on a 600 you could keep up with them everwhere but the highway.

Ninja's are fine bikes (its all preferance), they do tend to have a softer rear shock (no big deal your not a AMA racer its your first bike). And all the superbikes/sportbikes have adjustable suspension stock.

Yes take the course, as far as starter bike, I would suggest a smaller 600cc bike, course you can go bigger, just depends on you, never loose respect for the bike, soon as you do it will bite you in the ass.

Good luck, and ride safe.

Take the course

It's worth every penny from what I hear, it could even provide you with an insurance break

Get a 600 cc, maybe a honda f3?

They are cheap, but still good starter bikes. DOn't think this is slow b/c it's a starter bike, they're still sport bikes.

Going big is a mistake
You will not learn to develope your riding skills and you will end up counting on the bike to make you fast, instead of learning how to push through the corners.

get the 600, and waste your friends in the twisties.

Take the course
