Default N00b on 2 Wheels

hi guys,

This is my first time posting in the bike forum so, HIII!!!. So here it goes, im getting a bike within the next month or so, ive never owned one or had too much time on one. While I know the basics to riding, id like some pointers from people that are veterans at it(you guys). The bike im getting its a deal from my friend, not shopping around because i would have picked a suzuki if was. The bike its a Ninja ZX6R Special Edition Black. It only has 2k and its an 08, never been dropped just some light scratches. The bike owes 5,800$ and the payments are 150$ a month. Do you guys find this a good deal? If you do, give me some pointers on what to do when i first get it. Any major problems or red flags i should be worried about with this model? Ive been seen this bike since he bought it so i know all the history is accurate. What do you guys think?

edit: its a ZX6R

Thnx in advance. Mike.

no clue about the deal..

but buy gear and stay out of traffic. traffic sucks, people drive like shit, you get bored very fast riding very slow behind packs of cars doing 35 in a 45. it leads to doing shit that will probably get you hurt.

everyone drops their first bike, not all crash, but like 99.9% drop it in some way. try not to.

bikes stop great, till you need them too, then they stop like shit. always leave more than you think you would need if a car pulls in front of you, cause it still won't be enough.

lay off the back brake, it will cause you to crash more often than not in that stopping like shit situation. i think everyone as heard someone say they laid the bike down to avoid hitting a car full on. its a lie, they had no idea what happened, crashed their bike and slid into the car. leave more room and avoid car.

wet riding is a different world, and a whole different set up rules.

take pics, post here.

ride your ride! don't push yourself further than your comfortable, especially if your riding with more experienced people. I hung in the back of packs for a while and still do to this day with some other riders. Im ok with that! Im out there to ride and enjoy the experience. No need to race everywhere! skill will come with seat time...just be patient. I just read that some kid died 30 minutes after getting his endorsement... He WASN'T riding his ride!

These are all really good tips, and there are a few books i'd recommend reading.
Total Control
A Twist of the Wrist 1 & 2
Proficient mororcycling

those 4 books are great reads and will give you more advice and a general understanding of putting safety in motion and really understanding about what it is to ride YOUR ride.

Do wheelies everywhere if you can...

when you get bored of those...you need to stretch that fucker out...then slam it on its nuts...do rolling burn outs all day long!

stretch and slam motherfuckers!
