KISSMYACE down!
This thread revival reminds me of old bike tech! It's been so long since I've seen anything worth commenting on around here. I don't know Sara, so all I know is what I've heard second or third hand or read on these boards, but it would seem that some additional gear is in order when riding down the drive way and into the street to turn around involves crankin' a built quad to the point that you end up in a medically induced coma!
Look, a rider can wear all the gear imaginable every time out, never once have a get off, and then on their 10,000th ride decide not to wear gear for whatever reason and end up in a life altering accident. Remember how everyone used to preach ATGATT on these boards? There's a reason it is All The Gear ALL THE TIME and not All The Gear When You Feel Like It. Personally, I never touch anything with an engine unless I am properly geared up, but then again I am an old man these days.
I think this particular incident was simply a mistake made by an experienced rider that for whatever reason had a momentary lapse in judgement that she ended up paying for dearly. Every one of us has made a similar mistake at some point, but most of us are lucky enough to not end up in the ICU because of it. That being said, I think the comments that are bashing her for riding above her ability or not wearing gear are warranted, as harsh as they may seem, because it is that kind of comment that is going to hopefully show the new kid that just bought his first sport bike that the real riders among us do not think squidly behavior is appropriate or cool.
Honestly, I think if this exact same scenario had happened to someone other than a super hot chick, most of bike tech would be on the bashing side instead of the compassionate side here. At least, that's the bike tech I used to know and love. Tough love can save lives.
That being said, Sara, I genuinely hope you fully recover from this accident and never have to pay so dearly for a stupid mistake ever again, and I hope some others that read this thread can learn from your mistake instead of having to pay the price themselves when they find out the hard way that EVERYONE crashes from time to time, and you can never decide which ride will be your time to go down, even if you are just riding around the block.

Had it happened to you I'd wish you the luck of it having scraped all the freckles and red hair off your body, ginger.

I'll bet you all can't do a stoppie on in the rain on hard inflated bald stunt tires!! In Flops, shorts, shirtless with no helmet or rider gear.. & I thought you were superman
Oh, look it comes in NEON and its $20 more..

I passed a Ninja 250 and some guy wearing on of these.. and I think he had on No Helmet..

So I just want to get this straight! Your definition of a good rider is a rider who can do a stoppie on a bald tire in the rain? lol
