Default Wiring a On/Off Headlight switch

Bike: 03 GSXR 600

Situation: So I'm going to be retrofitting some projectors/HIDs in my bike soon and to insure that the HIDs don't drain the battery when I first power on the bike I wanted to put a switch to turn the HIDs on/off. Does anyone know how to go about this? I know it is rather simple procedure, but I don't know what parts are required: 2 or 3 switch? relay or anything? What all would be required? Any input is appreciated. Thanks crew.

the lights being on for 2-4 seconds before you start the bike will not drain the battery... you can wire up a relay tho to the starter button like the kawi and hondas do so that the lights come on after release of the starter button

More importantly is a tail light and brake light cut off....
So, no one can see where you went... and if you had to stop hard to make it...

Just saying, think about it...

HIDs wont drain your battery. if you purchased the real kind they come with a ballast so you're all set, i have HIDs on all my vehicles and they have never drained my battery.

I have no idea how to wire it up, but to clarify, are you trying to just get the headlight to cut out while the battery is cranking the motor to start the bike, like the later model year gixxers, or are you trying to wire up a switch that will turn the headlight on/off like you can on most cars? I think the two are different as to how you would wire them up.

Well, to answer your question, I was planning on wiring the headlight to an on/off switch like a car so I could power the bike on first without draining the battery. Now that that has been said, it seems like I don't need to since it will run with a ballast. I'll probably do a DIY of everything to show you guys what's up

So I just read that the reason some people put a timer on their bike even when ballasts are used is because it causes the ballast to be interrupted when the bike is starting. This interruption causes the flicker and such. I would like to play it safe, so does anyone have any input on this?

wire them in as high beams, and the switch is already there. or rather only use the high beams? if youre willing to sacrifice the other light thats the easiest way
