Default so i got my new helmet today..

and it doesnt fit. i got a icon, and ive tried an icon before that was XL and it fit fine. so when i ordered my icon i figured an XL would be fine. but its wayy to small.. so i am trying to avoid having to send it back and wait for another one, so my question is if i were to go up to cycle gear or some other place that would carry the same helmet if they could just switch it out for a XXL? its still brand new in the box with all stickers and tags on it.. if anyone can help me out or knows of anyone that can help me out let me know.. its an icon alliance ssr speedfreak, its blue..

oh and how bad is it to take the cheek pads out and wear it? i took them out and the helmet fits, but it doesnt seem like it'd be to safe if i were to get into a crash.. seems like it'd smack me in the jaw a lil bit..

You would have to be a real good customer for them to swap straight. Would walmart take back something that you bought at Kmart? Your odds are approximately that good.

Get the proper size helmet, the idea with a snug fitting helmet its that your head wont move around as your smashing it too a stop. The thing that causes the most dramatic brain injures is "sheering" or basically your brain making contact with the inside of your skull causing bruising and swelling.

Taking the cheek pads out makes about as much sense as cutting the top of your condom off for "comfort".

^ nice analogy

is it just the cheeks that are too tight? They normally mold some to your head and a lot are interchangable. Mine were too big in my shoei so I had to order a smaller set and it's perfect

id rather have a tight fitting helmet that will eventually loosen up later than ordering extra large and becomes too loose.

it doesnt even fit over my head. but if i take the cheek pads out it will. but my head still hits the side of it a lil bit. but yah, its just way to small.. and for an exrta large it just seems like its wayyy smaller than any XL ive ever seen before..

i am going to send it back..but i figured i'd ask on here if anyone knew anyone that worked at a place and could switch it out for the same helmet just a bigger size.. i dont mind sending it back, but it would just save me on shiipping and time if i could just trade it out..
