Default Is the wave lame down there?

I live in Gainesville; I've taken the bike down to Clearwater about 6 or 7 times now for a few days at a time. While I'm down there I ride all over Pinellas and Tampa and never get a wave. Maybe 2 or 3 waves out of all that riding.

I'm a wave initiator lol. I wave at anything with two wheels and a motor that isn't a scooter.

In Gainesville everyone waves at everyone. Sportbikes, dirtbikes, cruisers, harley's, etc. Down there I don't even get a wave from other sportbikes.

So what is it? I'm not butthurt you guys don't wave at me lol, I just find it interesting.

I ride in Gainesville and I have noticed that very few people wave back. I tried to wave at a few scooters...they don't even blink. It's like I'm not even there. They might as well be in cages. Down in Tampa and Pinellas, traffic sucks so bad that riders probably don't want to take their hand off the bars. I think that Sig7 has a point, too. More and more people are riding motorcycles just for image and they don't care nor care to learn the traditions and customs of our sport.

I wave a good bit of the time. Riding out to work on the beach I may not due to traffic but at least give a head non to acknowledge the person waving. I get more waves from cruisers than sport bikes. Must think I am not cool with my helmet gloves and jacket on lol.

On my bike I get waved at pretty regularly, but usually because its something people havent seen in a long time. Also maybe because im geared up like the people waving to me..

I have pulled up to numerous scooters and given a wave, a nod and to one hot ass girl I tried to strike up a conversation... they have a stonewall look as though im about to grab their bars and take them out. I think theyre annoyed that im faster

Its mostly sportbike guys waving at my little C70. But I do hang out at FUEL alot, even before I was on 2 wheels.

I wave to everyone. Almost all cruisers wave back. A rare few squidbikers wave back. They barely even wave to eachother. As evidenced by the dickwads in this forum, squidbikers down here are just assholes.

not really lame in tampa/stpete if you go out on a sunday morning for a north run.
i used to live in gainesville and i do agree that the bike community over there are somewhat more "close-knit". but each town/city has its own share of squids. im sure you have noticed that around the campus area.

dont worry too much about waving to each rider you pass by. keep your eyes straight and watch out for other people in their cars not paying attention.
