Default Need some help

I'm new to bikes totally, I'm going to get my endorsement soon, and I have some questions about this bike. I saw it on craigslist, it's a ninja 500R, 6.5k miles, it needs a front left cowl, fender. It looks like it could have frame damage, like the guy layed it down. Just need some opinions. Also add I'm a big guy, 6'2, with some meat on my bones, so a 250 is a bit too small. The only 250 I like is the Hyosung GT250R, but I heard it's a pos, so I'll pass on that one. Thanks in Advance.

from those pictures idk how you could really tell if frame damage...you'd have to take specific pictures where theres damage, but generally bikes can take a spill and not have frame damage, so it very well could be alright, its common to find bikes have been down for sale and there not be one thing wrong with it other than the cosmetic fairings

welcome to bike-tech!
personally, i wouldnt get that bike unless its for $800 or less. look for hairline cracks on the frame (LOOK VERY CAREFULLY, examine every centimeter of it)
that bike is good for scooting around town but if you are planning to do some good riding, you would be completely bored with it after a week. youre a big guy so a 1000k or a hayabusa would be more suitable for you (only if you have THROTTLE control).

i would want to tell you to start on a 250/600cc bike but i can see you getting bored with it asap.

goodluck and hope my opinion helps

Guy wants 1k for it, says it runs perfect, yeah this would be a dd bike, from house to college, to work, etc. I don't want a busa yet, whoa lmao. I rode on my bros busa, and I would be in a casket soon enough if I got one. Yeah the only 250 I liked was the Hyosung GT250R but it's a pos, I liked it becuase it felt like a bigger bike under me. I think I'll take a closer look at this thing, Thanks for all the tips.

I'm a little bigger than you and got pretty broed with my 600 riding it pretty regularly. It's good that you recognize the danger of something like a busa to a new rider but think how often you'll be riding too, if it's going to be a daily look into something like a fz6 or fz1 that has a better riding position for longer rides.

Don't listen to these fucking squids. This is your first bike, the last thing you need to be worried about is whether or not its BORING. You shouldn't be pushing any kind of limits any time soon on that thing. This is why so many of these jackasses end up dead or fucked up from accidents, because they think the purpose of a bike is to get hopped on and rode like a bat outta hell.

Well hell with that, I think you've got the right idea. Do like was recommended - examine that frame, and examine it well. Test ride the bike. Test ride it in a straight line, in corners, and at highway/interstate cruising speeds. Make sure its stable. If you can't do that yet, get someone to do it for you. But make sure you run it through the gauntlet of tests BEFORE you buy it, given that it looks like its definately been smashed up a bit.

And for the love of god don't listen to much of anything these people have to say on riding. Wear your gear and take it easy. You've got enough power there to do any reasonable thing you want while riding it, and until you get the experience under your belt thats all you need.

Lol, don't worry I'm responsible man, and I know that I need to learn. I originally wanted a 250-500, for a dd. The gas mileage is insane, for the 250's 50-60 avg, beats the hell out of my supra that gets me 18-22. Like I said I'm a bigger guy, so a 250 is a way bit small for me. Anyways thanks for your insight.
