Temperature
Temperature
I have a 97 900RR. My fan doesnt kick on until the bike is at 215-220. Does that seem a lil to hot? At that point the need is about the 3/4 mark. The coolant isnt bubbling or I cant even smell that its hot. Fan does kick on and off though. Any help is appreciated. I used a heat light to verify temp
the fan on my r1 doesnt kick on till 217-220f so i guess its just about right.
i think you need to ride the open roads more and stop parking hard and revving the piss out of your bike

usually with my bike, it stays around 169f to 180 depending on how cool it is outside. summer time i see my temperature on the r1 around 176-180ish. cold weather stays at 169F

yeah sounds like its normal.
fan switches are designed to kick the fans on around 215 - 220 degrees. there is some engineering behind this for optimum cylinder heating to help burn the fuel in the cyclinder (epa requirements). cars are the same way. you will not find a newer car with a t-stat setting of 180 or cooler. those t-stats are a thing of the past.

need tires (take offs)? PM me
need a deal on a track day? PM me
disclaimer: I sell used tires (take-offs), these tires have been used at Jennings, Homestead, etc. (road courses for those that dont know) therefor these tires are more used up on the sides than in the middle,

It is normal. You don't have to worry unless the fan kicks on and the temp keeps going up. If it gets around 250 the temp light will start flashing and you need to shut down or get moving to get air flowing again.
