What to look for when buy a crf450 used?
Whats up everyone, i figured i would start another thread since the last was was a bash fest
Ok i have a line on a pretty nice looking '03 crf450. But i have never bought a dirt bike and i am not sure what to look for. I have bought plent of street bikes, but something tells me these are a little different.
So what should i check out when going to look at this thing? What question should I ask?

make sure it was maintened is the biggest things not sure on the valve adjustment intervals but that would be my main concern. dirt gets up in them valves and does bad things.

does it run? can I ride it? what percent of oil to gas do you run? is it fast? can you do wheelies on it? can I do wheelies on it? has it been wrecked? will you come off the price? if I dont like it in 30 days can I bring it back and get full refund?

450 is a big step, i think you should go 250 to be honest

Ask about his maintence sch, was it ridden or raced. Race bikes might be a lil more ugly on the eyes but they are usually the most mechanically sound. if you do get the bike buy the honda service manual so you can do almost all of the maintence yourself. go to the gym and do one legged press. that right leg is gonna need to be strong to kick that baby over when she is hot!

LOL, that was going to be my second question, don't they have an electric start kit for the 450?

450 4stroke is about equivilent to 250 2stroke..there is no oil/gas mixture

For some strange reason i am getting cold feet on this. Normally i will drop the hammer on something i want, but for some reason i am stand offish when it is coming to dirt bikes.
